A prerequisite to be a member of Nama is to be registered with the EAAB.
According to the Estate Agency Affairs Act no 112 of 1976 and Regulation R1485 of 17 July 1981 it is obligatory for a M/A to be registered with the EAAB if they collects moneys on behalf of the B/C.
Please do the necessary if you are not registered for 2007 as Nama will be put in a bad spot if its members are not registered.
FROM THE MCS COURIER – JULY 2007 (Issue no 25)
Managing Agents are not bound by the provisions of the Management Rules, in particular Management Rule 46. If a written agreement is concluded with the trustees, acting on behalf of the body corporate, which is in conflict with the rules, such agreement is valid and enforceable.
It is the duty of the trustees to ensure that contracts with the managing agents include provisions that comply with the Management Rules (Jacques Maree)
WEB PORTAL
The web portal is picking up very steadily and provides those members who had registered a positive advantage to their competition.
Many M/A’s have already requested password etc. but this can only be issued once the subscription forms have been completed and returned to Datastat. SEND IN THOSE SUBSCRIPTION FORMS AND BE PART OF THE MANAGING AGENTS WHO ARE THE LEADERS IN THE S/T INDUSTRY
A very positive sign is the number of B/C’s who have registered
EDUCATE AND EMPOWER YOURSELF
What knowledge are trustees of B/C’s, or even owners of units, required to have in terms of the S/T Act?
To answer this question visit; www.namasa.co.za . Read in the July 2007 news letter (issue no. 5) the article by Karen Bleijs.
