3 IMPORTANT DON’TS
• Don’t update your beneficiary’s bank details or add a new beneficiary without
verifying the details. Confirm these by phoning your beneficiary on a number you
know or find on their official website.
• Don’t accept emailed notification of change of banking details – criminals
sometimes intercept emails and swap out payment details
• Don’t pay invoices received without verifying banking details, especially for large
amounts and for new beneficiaries.
Please remember that electronic payments are made based on the account number
only. Any account name given is not routinely checked as part of the automated
payment process. It is your responsibility to ensure the account details being used are
correct, by conducting an independent verification.
